Dwarka Expressway, New Gurgaon: India First Urban Elevated Highway

 GURGAON: Nitin Gadkari, India’s Minister   of Road Transport and Highways,  announced that the country’s largest   cloverleaf intersection would be  inaugurated next month. This will link NH-  48, the Southern Peripheral Road, and the   Dwarka Motorway. It will have a circular   length of about 2 km and be open to the   public in the coming weeks. 

About Dwarka Expressway

Dwarka Expressway is the third direct connecting route between Delhi and Gurgaon, after NH-8 and Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road. The expressway will be a 16-lane access-controlled highway running between Shiv Murti in Delhi and Kherki Daula in Gurugram. The 18.9 km-section of the expressway will be in Gurugram, and the remaining 10.1 km in Delhi. 

Key Highlights Of Dwarka Expressway New Gurgaon

– The 29 km (16-lane) stretch of NH-8 has four multi-level     interchanges and is a signal-free highway. The engineering      marvel has three-lane service lanes on either side of the      motorway, four multi-level interchanges, and numerou      crossroad underpasses at major junctions. – The Haryana Government has planned a Mass Rapid Transit     System Corridor (or metro rail) along Dwarka Expressway as       part of its development plans for the Gurgaon-Manesar       Urban Complex. This will commence in Dwarka and run to      Manesar and Neemrana via a metro hub being built on a 162-      acre tract at Kherki Daula, alongside the new Inter State Bus      Terminal. – A dedicated underpass will be built through Vatika INXT2,      linking NH 352W to Dwarka Expressway (NH 248BB). – This world-class corridor will have advanced Intelligent      Transportation Systems (ITS) such as Advanced Traffic      Management System, Toll Management System, CCTV      Cameras, Surveillance, and so on.

Dwarka Expressway Construction Update

According to NHAI officials, the long-delayed 19-kilometre Gurugram section  of the 29-kilometre Dwarka Expressway from Mahipalpur in New Delhi to Kherki Dhaula in Gurugram is expected to be operational soon. The remaining 10 kilometres in Delhi will be completed by mid-2023, most likely in June.

Dwarka Expressway New Gurgaon Speed Limit

According to NHAI, which granted the national highway status to the 28 km, access-controlled Dwarka Expressway, the horizontal alignment of the expressway is designed for speeds of around 80 kilometres per hour.

Dwarka Expressway New Gurgaon Toll Charge

The Delhi-Jaipur Expressway and the Dwarka Expressway New Gurgaon will be the country's first toll-free highways. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) announced this at a meeting of the Road Safety Committee on March 24, 2021. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Yash Garg, the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram.
